In the last year, as attention to surveillance issues has expanded dramatically, questions have been raised about the structure and function of the institutions in the United States that are engaged in oversight of the intelligence agencies. These questions are part of a larger dialogue about the post-9/11 expansion in the intelligence and counterterrorism enterprise, and will be informed by a comparative analysis of the ways in which intelligence agencies are overseen outside the United States, specifically engaging in a discussion about the role of the Supreme Court of Israel in overseeing intelligence services in that country.
