About the event:
The nature of cybercrime is changing. Cybercriminals are engaging in increasingly sophisticated schemes to profit from digital theft. Whether they steal market-moving data to commit insider trading, use hacks to support “pump and dump” scams, or hack to steal from and spy on competitors, companies are struggling to stay ahead of the criminals that are targeting them. This symposium will illuminate the next generation of cybercrime and the ways in which the government and private sector can collaborate to address it.
The symposium will be co-hosted by the New York University School of Law’s Center on Law and Security and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York, which has prosecuted recent landmark cyber cases including the hacks of JPMorgan Chase and 11 other companies, and the founder of Silk Road, the world’s largest online illegal drug market.
Participants will include:
- Ajay Banga, CEO, Mastercard
- Preet Bharara, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York
