Speaker Bio
Alexis Blane currently serves as Special Counsel to Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, focusing on reproductive rights, education, and economic development. She was previously Principal Deputy Counsel to NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio, leading the City’s COVID response, as well as covering legal matters related to public safety, education, and civil rights.
After graduating from NYU, she clerked on the 4th Circuit for Judge Allyson Duncan and then went on to serve as an Attorney Advisor at the U.S. State Department. She was the Governance Officer & Associate General Counsel of the Clinton Foundation and an advisor to social enterprises and nonprofits working on international justice issues.
Alexis holds a J.D. from NYU School of Law, a DPhil from Oxford University, where she was a Rhodes Scholar, and an A.B. from Duke University, where she was an avid attendee of basketball games. She lives in Brooklyn with two children, one scientist, and far too many books.
