Glenn Gerstell, General Counsel of the National Security Agency speaks with NYU Law Students

On March 13, Glenn Gerstell, General Counsel of the National Security Agency (NSA) joined NYU Law students to discuss and answer questions on careers in government/national security. He has served as General Counsel of the NSA and Central Security Service since August 2015 and, prior to that, spent several years on the President’s National Infrastructure Advisory Council and as an inaugural member of the District of Columbia Homeland Security Commission. For much of his career, Mr. Gerstell practiced law at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP. An overview of the discussion is forthcoming.
Bio:
Mr. Gerstell was appointed in August 2015 as the General Counsel of the National Security Agency and Central Security Service.
Prior to joining NSA, Mr. Gerstell practiced law for almost 40 years at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP, where he served as the managing partner of the firm’s Washington, D.C., Singapore, and Hong Kong offices. Earlier in his career, he was an Adjunct Law Professor at the Georgetown University School of Law and New York Law School.
Mr. Gerstell served on the President’s National Infrastructure Advisory Council, which reports to the President and the Secretary of Homeland Security on security threats to the nation’s infrastructure, as well as on the District of Columbia Homeland Security Commission.
A graduate of New York University and Columbia University School of Law, Mr. Gerstell is an elected member of The American Academy of Diplomacy and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
